About Me...

When I was one year old my parents took me to the local shelter to pick out my birthday present.  Whiskers became a part of our family, and my best friend, for 19 years.  Hence the name Kitty Whiskers, in memory of Whisk.

By the time I was six we had moved to Virginia, we took in two more strays and appropriately named them White Fur and Big Head.

When I was eight my family and I went hiking on the Appalachian trail and I noticed the name of the trail: Riprap Trail.  I made a declaration then and there that when I grew up I was going to get an all black cat and name him Riprap.  Approximately 15 years later I welcomed "Rippy" into my home with his sister Eureka.  (I absolutely adore black cats!)

It was strange for me to only have two cats since I had grown up with three.  I eventually adopted Lefty from a shelter; she was already an adult cat with a gaping and infected eye wound. But after I got her the medical attention she desperately needed she lived a full and happy life.

My favorite sound in the world is the purr of a cat.  My cat Whisk used to sleep around my neck every night for years and years.  His purr was soothing and comforting.

I graduated from ODU with a BS in Psychology, minor in Sociology.  When I was living and working in Williamsburg, I met my husband Joe. My husband is the pastor of Peakland United Methodist Church in Lynchburg, VA.  We have also served the Stephen's City charge, Urbanna UMC, Monumental UMC in Portsmouth and Trinity UMC in Lexington, VA

We have two boys, ages 15 and 17, who attend Brookville HS.

Besides my love of all animals, especially cats, I also love art.  I consider myself a mixed media and textile artist creating one-of-a-kind art quilts and upcycled wearable art.  I also like to draw, paint, photography and art journaling.
